Photos we missed!

Well, I have been a tad busy!

Where did the summer go? Besides working a full time job, working at the gallery, taking pictures every chance I got, and picking up several new marketing clients, time has gone by so fast, it feels like the blink of an eye! Not that I am complaining in any way.
The beach has been a constant source of inspiration, (where are those photos? must post some.....) and with graduations, babies, and everything else in the sweltering Florida heat, I am well looking forward to cooler days and nights! I hope you enjoy the few photos here, and be sure to keep looking for more to come. It seems everyone wants photos of their kiddiwinks, so we will see what we can do!!!!

Fabulous Art from Paper

These stunningly detailed sculptures may only be made from paper, but they are being snapped up by art fans for tens of thousands of pounds.(dollars).

The intricate creations depict Native American scenes and took
up to 11 months to make using a specially formulated paper.

Husband and wife team, Allen and Patty Eckman, put paper pulp
into clay moulds and pressurize it to remove the water.
They have been making the creations since 1987 at their home studio,
in South Dakota, America, and have racked up a whopping
$3 million selling the incredible works of art.
The pieces depict traditional scenes from Native
American history of Cherokees hunting and dancing.

Allen explained their technique: "It should not be confused with
papier mache. The two mediums are completely different.
I call what we do 'cast paper sculpture'"
"Some of them we create are life-size and
some we scale down to 1/6 life-size".
See even more here!
I think they are amazing, enjoy!

David Bowie Website

Whilst I was bebopping around the web/net or whatever it's called these days, I was looking at artist's site for inspiration on images for a bio for my artist friend, Diana's upcoming big show in October, I found a link called Bowie Art! Of course, I figured it was just someone selling either some kind of David Bowie renditions, or some such similar thing. Imagine my surprise and delight when I discovered this was really David Bowie's (Yes, that Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane DB)actual art site.
I share a small sliver of his work here (most of which is no longer available, not surprisingly), but there are lots more intoxicating works to behold here. Enjoy Spacemen!

Summertime Photos

As much as I love the beach, summer is very tiring! Still, it is just wonderful to enjoy the young ones and their complete and utter pleasure at being beside the seaside! (My photos)

More Good News!

Just when you wonder if you are truly doing what you are supposed to, guess what? A sign comes that maybe you are! I had entered a local juried art show, and the above image was one that was accepted for the show. However, although I did not receive a prize, I just found that I sold the piece. I am so tickled, it made my whole week! Cheers and Happy Father's Day!

Commissioned Photos

While being asked to photograph anything or anybody, is always a great honor and privilege, trying to capture the essence of the subject can present it's own challenges. Being asked to capture a local community garden presented it's own set of criteria, hopefully, we captured what they needed! Let me know what you think!
